Nov 4, 2018God’s Pourpose For The ChurchBy: Matthew DIehlSeries: MarkWhat defines the Church and those in the Church, the Congregation, the called-out ones, Assembly of Believers, Greek: Ekklesia, Fellowship, Community of Faith, members of the Way? Over the centuries, the word in English “church” used in translating the Greek “Ekklesia” transferred the visual from a group of people to a building, a place of meeting. To a large degree, this shift took the focus off the individual as the body of Believers that constituted a congregation to the idea that a building (complete with officials) was somewhat necessary to have a real Christian presence. To a public viewing from the outside, the components that make the flesh and bones, hearts and minds shifted to stone, brick, wood and officials.

Oct 14, 2018The Empty Tomb and The Great CommissionBy: Matthew DIehlSeries: MarkRising from the dead and walking out of the tomb created the best way to commission people to go all over the world. People took note and went forward. Their empowering experience was passed on to others and has lasted to this day. We are in in the 2018th year of our Lord who rose from being dead and walked out of a tomb. Jesus then went and showed Himself to others who in turn spent the rest of their lives witnessing what they saw, what happened to them, and the eternal change in their lives.

Oct 7, 2018God Rolls Away Stones – Your’s TooBy: Matthew DIehlSeries: MarkDo you have a situation in your life where you wish God would roll a stone away? The women approached the tomb of Jesus not knowing how they were going to remove the stone. To achieve their goal the stone had to be rolled away. To their surprise, when they arrived the stone had already been rolled away. We must not lose sight of the fact that they were going to honor and anoint the Lord’s body. In our life’s pursuits we should seek for stones to be removed to honor the Lord.

Sep 16, 2018Carry The CrossBy: Matthew DIehlSeries: MarkMark 1516 The soldiers led him away into the palace (that is, the governor's residence) and called the whole company together. (Mk. 15:16 CSB17)They dressed him in a purple robe, twisted together a crown of thorns, and put it on him. 18 And they began to salute him, "Hail, King of the Jews!" 19 They were hitting him on the head with a stick and spitting on him. Getting down on their knees, they were paying him homage. 20 After they had mocked him, they stripped him of the purple robe and put his clothes on him. They led him out to crucify him. 21 They forced a man coming in from the country, who was passing by, to carry Jesus's cross. He was Simon of Cyrene, the father of Alexander and Rufus.

Sep 2, 2018Jesus ~ The Envy of the High PriestBy: Matthew DIehlSeries: Mark
The multiple trials or moving trial of Jesus before Annas, Caiaphas, Pilate, Herod, back to Pilate took place amid the screaming envy of the Jews led by the High Priests, Annas and Caiaphas. If you count the examination before Annas as separate, Jesus stood before four examiners with two finding Him not guilty. The two examiners wanting to crucify Jesus were also His accusers. When Jesus was examined by independent judges, He is found not guilty.

Aug 28, 2018Mark 14: 41-72 The Trial of ManBy: Matthew DIehlSeries: MarkThe latter verses in Mark 14 detail the arrest and courtyard trial of Jesus at night. These actions symbolize man’s struggle with God becoming one of them. This is an epic event demonstrating man’s fallen-drive to put “God on trial.” The reality is that the trial of Jesus is the “Trial of Man.” God is always on trial. Every day men from all over the world put God on trial.

How do I prepare to be a “Foot of the Cross Disciple?”
Considerations: Do you fear the world more than you love God? Do you see God’s eternal heaven? Is your mind set more on temporal things than eternal? When you get up in the morning do you pray for the Lord to guide your day? Are you preparing yourself to be closer to God than you were yesterday?

Aug 12, 2018Mark 14:16-27 Betrayal And ForgivenessBy: Matthew DIehlSeries: Mark
Forgiveness is not letting the person who offended off the hook. Forgiveness is letting you off the hook of hard feelings that could develop into bitterness and hate. The person committing the offense will one day answer to God.
